What would happen if you ate these foods everyday:
Donuts or maybe a couple of bowls of those yummy sugar-laden cereals like Coco-Puffs or Captain Crunch?
McDonalds hamburgers/fries, or a few slices of gooey cheesy pizza, for lunch?
For dinner, TV dinners, Beefaroni, boxed Mac and Cheese, or other highly processed pre-packaged foods?
And an evening dessert of ice cream, cake, and/or cookies?
You know what would happen:
You would start to get fat, and your clothes wouldn't fit anymore etc.
You'd start to get moody as you cycle from carb high (think hyper), to carb crash (think depressed).
Those pesky allergies will bother you, or you’ll be sick with another "cold" again.
Then after a couple of weeks you’ll notice you are getting pimples, boils, or other skin eruptions.
After months/years on this diet, your doctor will be talking to you about hypertension, pre-diabetes, diabetes, and heart disease.
Most of us would never eat like this every day, multiple times a day. Sure we all like to cheat a little, but all of the people I know try to eat somewhat healthy. So, why let your children eat this way?
Lets look at how this way of eating affects our children:
Have they been gaining weight?
Diagnosed as hyperactive, depressed, or ADHD?
Have year-round, unknown allergies?
Are always sick?
Have excessive pimples, or other skin issues?
By allowing them to eat heavily processed, high sugar, and high fat junk foods, we are making them sicker than we would be if we ate this way all the time. That’s right, they wouldn’t get as sick as us. They will get sicker!
Alarming recent studies have shown that children as young as 10 years old are showing signs of atherosclerosis, which is the cause of heart disease! They are already heading down the path of life threatening diseases.
Children's little bodies aren’t able to handle the constant barrage of bad foods and toxins they are eating. If our adult-sized intestines, livers, kidneys and other organs have trouble filtering out these bad foods, our children's organs certainly can't do it. Their organs are smaller and not fully developed yet.
Stop allowing your children to eat highly processed junk foods like those mentioned above. Sure, they’ll complain that they don’t like eating vegetables, and yes, they would rather eat a donut over a piece of fruit (who wouldn’t?). But it’s our responsibility as parents to help them be healthy, so we are not having to resort to giving them medications, or worse.
