Lawrence Castanon, MAI, CPT

Shihan Lawrence (Larry) Castanon is a former competitor in  Karate, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Boxing. He has been training for over 45 years and teaching for over 30 years.

 

In addition to holding a 5th degree black belt in Karate, he also holds a 2nd degree black belt in Close Combat martial arts, is a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu self-defense instructor, a Krav Maga self-defense instructor, and a USA Wrestling coach.       

    

Educationally, he holds  a degree in Biology from the State University of New York. and a diploma as a Physical Therapy Technician. Additionally, he holds certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, Personal Fitness Trainer, Group Exercise instructor, and national SafeSport coach. He has over 30 years of experience training folks, and is currently certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the leading fitness organization in the country.

 

He is also the author of the Amazon best-selling book, The Short Fight, which has been featured on NBC, CBS, FOX, and USA Today. His book is a comprehensive self-defense and fitness fight-specific manual with techniques designed specifically for smaller, weaker individuals. 

 

For over 30 years Shihan Larry has owned and operated martial arts and fitness studios in New York, and Georgia. He is the chief instructor and coach at NHB Martial Arts & Fitness where he offers private and group training sessions in person and online. Additionally, he offers, workshops, and seminars, for organizations, schools, and businesses.
