Exercise of the Week: Mountain Climber with Push-up


Welcome to the exercise of the week! Whether you're looking to get functionally stronger to defend yourself, or you just want to look ripped like a fighter, these exercises will get it done. This weeks exercise of the week is the Mountain Climber with Push-up. It is another great total body exercise using just out body weight! This exercise builds up your lower and upper body strength and power, while challenging your stabilization, core, and cardiorespiratory system. How to perform:

  1. Begin in a push-up position, with one foot planted alongside your arm.

  2. Perform a push-up.

  3. Switch your feet quickly by hopping your legs up slightly. Your other foot should now be alongside your other arm.

  4. Perform another push-up, then switch your feet again.

  5. Continuing alternating leg switches then performing a push-up.

  6. Beginners start with 1-3 sets of 10 reps. Advanced exercisers can perform 4-6 sets of 15 reps.

If the exercise is too hard:

  • Walk your legs up instead of hopping your legs up.

  • Only perform a partial push-up.

  • Drop your back knee down after each repetition.

  • Reduce the amount of sets, and repetitions until you build up strength.

If the exercise is too easy:

  • Perform more sets and or repetitions, or perform for time (i.e., as many reps as possible within one minute).

  • Increase the speed in which you perform the repetitions safely.
